The first full Deadpool trailer has arrived! I am not sharing the red band trailer (R-rated trailer). If you want to see it, it's easy enough to find -- in fact they linked to it at the end of this here green band trailer:
This is interesting to me because this is the first time I've ever witnessed a red band trailer be more popular than the green band. It worries me for the film a bit actually. I'll watch an R-rated movie, though I'm extra careful about them, and it bothers me when movies are made to be R for no good reason. Now, Deadpool would probably be terrible if they tried to make it PG-13. It definitely couldn't do without R type violence. But with them pushing this profane trailer so hard, it seems like their goal is not to make a great movie that will happen to be rated R, but to make a really, really inappropriate R-rated movie, and count on it also being great. I'm very interested to see how this movie will turn out -- but not counting on it being one I'll want to witness personally, just in case.
Judging just from this trailer, it definitely looks funny and sharp and violent, and full of potential.
What do you think of the trailer? And do you have any thoughts on the subject of the rating?

9 New Nerdy SDCC Trailers
The massive entertainment event called the San Diego Comic Con spurred the (in one case unwilling) release of many new trailers videos for upcoming, highly anticipated films and TV shows. I shared the first one I saw, the Doctor Who Series 9 trailer in a separate post, but then they started coming so fast they overwhelmed me so that I could barely form a coherent thought about one before the next showed up! But now the Comic Con is over and things are settling down, so now I'm just going to share all the trailers I found interesting all together, right here, right now:
Doctor Who
Click here for my original post on this, but the gist of it is this: I love Doctor Who. I didn't love the last season. I'm still hoping to love this one. This trailer does nothing to weaken that hope. Peter Capaldi's hair finally remembered that it's the hair of a Doctor and has acted accordingly.
Sherlock
This is less a trailer and more a first-look clip. And as long as the setting of the late 1800's is explained reasonably, it doesn't seem like this Sherlock one-off special will be any less awesome than the past three seasons have been. They certainly are taking full advantage of the setting by having Cumberbatch's characterization match the Sherlock Holmes of the books exactly. And he delivers that first line just as brilliantly as he ever has delivered a line. John's mustache is fantastic, and Mrs. Hudson is the land-lady, and not a plot device. Everything appears to be in order, and the game is on! Or, should I say "afoot"?
Con-Man
I don't know if I'll ever see this, but I love the idea of it so, SO much. Alan Tudyk writes directs and stars along with Nathan Fillion, and the rest of the Firefly cast have cameos. It's about a man who starred on a tragically cancelled sci-fi series (sound familiar?) and since hasn't been able to do anything better, but just goes to sci-fi conventions, signs autographs, and bemoans his terrible fate. I don't know how appropriate the Vimo web-series will be, but it looks pretty funny at least, and I love that it's not even subtle about it's Firefly references. Language Warning for the trailer:
The Man in the High Castle
This is an Amazon series. It's an adaptation of a Philip K. Dick 1962 science fiction novel about what would have happened if America had lost the second World War. Philip K. Dick is the author of the stories that were adapted into Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, The Adjustment Bureau, and several more, and that is a huge appeal to me. The trailer is extremely dark though, and it may end up proving to be too much, but I really really want to give it a shot, and the pilot episode is available for streaming right now...
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Or as I fondly refer to it: Bateman v Superbman: Down of Justice. This is probably the trailer that had the biggest impact on the general crowd of movie fans. And it had a pretty big impact on me too; I've never experienced the sensation of feeling anger towards a movie trailer before. Now I'm trying to decide if I should attempt to explain all the ways it angered me or not... oh, why not -- rant time!
First of all, Superman's character is still being cruelly whittled away into a sad pile of distorted and discarded goodness. He's still the man who let thousands of people die by hesitating to kill one evil man, but now he doesn't even seem to know what he should do anymore -- he won't even defend himself from masses of people who worship him as a god! The best thing to do about the Man of Steel casualty count was to ignore it, not exploit it, but I guess that's the only way they could figure to rile up the Bat. Batman is slightly better. When people he knows die from Supes indecision problem, he comes out of retirement for revenge. And if one single person dies from the resulting battle, he'll be a complete hypocrite.
The joyless, "real-life" serious tone set promises to bore with unending relentless and forced lifelessness masquerading as drama. And speaking of "relentless", the battle sequences promise that too. I love the stylized look of those scenes with the dark endless piles of rubble lit with random little fires that fill the screen with floating embers and will undoubtedly look epic in 3D... a clue: no. (I've been watching BBC's Robin Hood.) I'm trying to figure why people say that this is the best trailer they've ever seen, and I think it boils down to one thing: the magnificent music. ... Never mind, I'm not going to comment on that. I think I'm done. I'll just add that if you like this trailer, or even think it's the best you've ever seen, I'm not trying to dissuade you or say you're wrong. Opinions; to each their own!
Suicide Squad
Now THIS is how to do a inviting DC movie trailer! I know next to nothing about these characters and this story, but this trailer make me want to watch the movie it advertizes. Very much. Everything about this trailer just oozes with a slick and unforced darkly cool style. It has twice the required dosage of DC darkness but still feels unmistakeably fun. And I wonder if it will even go so far as to get an R rating? I wouldn't be surprised, but I would be disappointed if the content reached a level that I wouldn't want to see, because right now I really want to see this. This seems like DC's best chance at a "Guardians of the Galaxy" -- that seems like high praise I know, but that's just in comparison with DC's rebooted film record so far: Man of Steel and the trailer I just finished bashing. Almost anything would be an improvement.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
And HERE is a Henry Cavill movie I can actually get excited about! This trailer is 5 minutes of snappy snazzy slick vintage fun, and I am left with no doubt that the film it advertizes will be exactly the same. Need I say more? I think not. Don't believe me? Just watch:
Fantastic Four
On the side of Marvel Superheroes, things continue to be solid, and this new F4 trailer that features Reed Richards as a kid stays firmly in that vein. This movie is looking very solid. I was interested in it the moment I saw Jamie Bell and Miles Teller in the cast, but beyond that, it really is looking like a well-done reboot, steering away from the cheesiness of the last effort, but still remembering to be exciting and fun. Definitely looking forward to this one's upcoming release.
Star Wars
And this isn't a trailer, but a behind-the-scenes featurette for the making of The Force Awakens, the main point of which, I believe is just to reassure fans once again that this franchise is in good and loving hands. And it does a great job being convincing of that fact. All the people involved in this love this world as much as any of us, and are obviously invested in making it as great as they possibly can. And they seem to be having a blast doing it. I have every confidence in this film, and can't wait to see the finished product!
Doctor Who

Doctor Who series 9 - trailer!
Here's the first trailer for the 9th Doctor Who season, airing on September 19th. I didn't enjoy the 8th season (review) as much as I have other Doctor Who seasons, but I'm still excited to see if this one will improve now that the new Doctor has settled in. His hair certainly has found a groove! The only thing that I'm not at all looking forward to is Missy. Ugh. Otherwise, this teaser looks promising to me, with plenty of wibbly-wobbly sci-fi thrills.
Take a look, then tell me what you think! Are you looking forward to the new season?

New Trailer - Paper Towns
A month or so ago, I saw that this existed -- a trailer for the new John Green teen novel adaptation. I decided not to watch the trailer immediately though, but to read the book first instead, so as to enhance my reading experience by knowing as little about the story as possible beforehand. I'm glad I waited because the trailer kinda gives away some things -- maybe not spoilers exactly but things that took me by surprise in the book. Here it is:
Based on the book, my impression is that it will makes a good movie. It's not as deep and profound as The Fault in Our Stars perhaps, but is certainly as relevant -- if not more -- and has a message that I like better. Casting looks good to me. The only actor I've seen before here is Nat Wolff -- he played Isaac, Gus and Hazel's blind friend in TFIOS, and I think is ideal casting for Q, the hero of Paper Towns.
It's hard to tell from a trailer about the people I've never watched before, but they do look promising. Of course, the standards set for Margo, the female lead, and pretty unattainably high. It's like trying to cast The Great Jay Gatsby -- even the most esteemed actors (like Leonardo DiCaprio) seem to lack the finesse to play such a character. (Yes John Green, I just compared your Margo Roth Spiegelman to Jay Gatsby -- I hope you would be happy at that!) Cara Delevingne is better known as a model than an actress, but does have a strangely, intensely striking quality to her, so based on that the chances of her living up to the name seem reasonable.
The trailer promises to be a faithful adaptation, with only details left out or changed from the book, much like TFIOS, and that is a big plus, but also completely expected. I do worry a bit that the grittier parts may be left out though. If they succeed with the adapting, and put half as much heart that was put into The Fault in Our Stars movie, or a tenth of the heart Green put in his book, then it should be a movie worth searching out.
What do you think of the trailer? Want to see Paper Towns, or no? Have you read the book? Tell me in the comments!

New Trailer - The Little Prince
It doesn't even have a release date yet, but it's cast list looks like this:
Rachel McAdams
Jeff Bridges
Marion Cotillard
James Franco
Paul Rudd
Paul Giamatti
Ricky Gervais
Benicio Del Toro
And it's an adaptation of the novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry -- which I have never read, but if people say it's a masterpiece, I believe them. The trailer certainly does have the feel of something very special. I am also very interested by the mixed animating styles of the typical computer animation and the stop-motion. Both the styles look very beautiful.
I know next to nothing about this, but I want to see it already. Watch the trailer below! What do you think? Have you read the book? Are you interested in this adaptation?

New Trailer - Jurassic World
Chances of this movie not being awesome? Well, let's see: Chris Pratt... dinosaurs... more dinosaurs... modern action and special effects... yep, I'd say the chance of no awesomeness is around 0%.
Check out the new Jurassic World trailer, and then tell me: looking forward to this one? How much?

New Trailer - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
The first real trailer for Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman movie leaked today, so they went ahead and released it, which it turns out is a fitting way for the film to be introduced to us audience, if anything can be assumed about the film from this trailer:
My assumption? I'm not gonna like it. (That may be an understatement.) Before now, I've held the opinion that it will undoubtedly be a less than good superhero movie, but that it would at least be amusing to watch -- and maybe make fun of. But this trailer killed that idea for me with one thing: Superman is letting people think he is and/or treat him like he's a god!?! What is this?!? Superman is supposed to stand everything that is right and good, and he's going around all stoic-like as people kneel to him? Good. Grief. Forget the inevitable plot holes; forget the millions of innocents that will inevitably die in the chaotic wake of these two heroes; forget the terrible drama and the failed joke attempts; forget the meaningless emptiness that Snyder has perfected and will leave us with once the relentless action ceases; this movie's downfall is right there. I don't need to see the movie anymore -- I already detest it.
On the brighter side, I'm very much over caring one way or another about Ben Affleck's takeover of Batman. If anything, I'm on the positive side about it, but that might just be in comparison with the rest of the impression this trailer left on me. He may not be as cool as Christian Bale, and his costume may be sillier, (that chunky one with the lighted eyes...) but he looks pretty legit, and certainly does have the brood down pat.
I thought there was no way they could have added more to the annoying terribleness that was Man of Steel, but with the first real look at this... this Dawn of Justice, I have to say I've changed my mind.
What are your thoughts on this new trailer? Does it help or hinder your previous opinions of the movie?

New Trailer - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser #2
More teasing awesomeness from J.J. Abrams and the Star Wars episode 7 team. Including our first look at Han and Chewie! Also featuring some of the beautiful, classic score, lots of action, downright amazing scenery at the beginning, (I mean, wow!) and a very familiar sounding voice-over...
I'm not a big fan of winter, but this is gonna help so much... is it Christmas yet?
What do you think of the new teaser?

New Trailer - Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation
Tom Cruise's 5th Mission: Impossible movie's full trailer released today, and it looks like true sequel to MI4, with even more at steak and even bigger stunts (if that's possible!). I for one, do not need to be convinced by a trailer; I knew from the moment this film was officially announced I'll be seeing it in theaters, but if I wasn't already sure I still would be now!
Tom Cruise is back of course, (and oh my gosh that plane stunt -- and you know it's real too, because it's Tom Cruise!) and the team from 4 is back too -- Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg -- minus Paula Patton though, but "replacing" her is Rebecca Ferguson, who seems more than capable of kicking the butt, and wearing the dresses. And Ving Rhames' Luther is back for a real role this time. Back to Renner and Pegg though, they are who I'm most excited to see again. Jeremy Renner because he's Jeremy Renner and doesn't need any other reasons, and Simon Pegg, because he awesome, and Benji comes off really well in the trailer. Oh, and it appears Alec Baldwin will be the villain, so that's cool.
Take a look, then share your thoughts on it below!

Cinderella -- New Trailer!
![]() |
| Lily James as the title princess. |
Disney's live action Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Starring the adorable Lily James of Downton Abbey, Richard Madden of Game of Thrones, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, and Hayley Atwell, and many more recognizable faces. But what makes me most excited to see this film is that it appears to be a very classic telling of the story -- like Disney's animation, but in live action -- no twists or re-imaginings, because we've seen plenty of those already. Granted, there are plenty of the straightforward versions too, but in my opinion, there couldn't possibly ever be too many of those. And Branagh's rich directing style is sure to make it a thoroughly magnificent affair. This looks magical!
What do you think of the trailer? Are you planning on seeing the movie when it releases in March? And is this the way you prefer your fairytales, or do like the trend of giving them a modernized twist?

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies -- main trailer!
No more of Pippin singing "Home is Behind" and teasing, lingering shots of grandeur -- the full trailer for The Battle of the five Armies is here, and it's non-stop fantasy action:
First of all: "These bats are bred for one purpose: for war!" -- Legolas. Hahahahaha. That was so hammy I feel like PJ is just making fun of us fans now. He's already won; he doesn't even need to pretend to try to make this movie better than or even as good as the previous two. He knows we're going to watch it no matter what, and I so am.
But, anyway, looking past all the dreaded additions made apparent in this trailer, I am certainly excited for this. I know the battles will be epic, but I hope the drama is done well too. The conflict between Thorin and Bilbo has tons of potential. The trailer does look promising on that score, (wow, Kili) so that's exciting.
And I want to see what they do with added characters, particularly Tauriel.
And I want to see more of Martin Freeman being Bilbo, cause when he's being Bilbo, he's being Bilbo like no one else.
(Spoiler Warning)
Then, of course, there's the little matter of Smaug, which is, of course, NOT AT ALL A LITTLE MATTER, AND I'M DYING TO SEE IT. I seriously worry that after Smaug's death everything after will "savor of anticlimax" as Fitzgerald says. Actually, I have a prediction about this -- I predict that Bard will try to use the last Black Arrow on Smaug but will miss, then will use a regular arrow and the knowledge of his one missing scale to kill him. It'd be more similar to the book that way, and would make Bard look awesome. I mean, more awesome.
(End Spoilers)
Oh, I just want to see it now so I can stop worrying about it not being as good as the first two... even though when I think about it, it's unlikely that it'll be anything but just like them: a mixed bag of incredibly awesome realizations of the wonderful novel, and mildly annoying Jackson additions.
Can't. Wait.
Thoughts on the trailer? How excited are you for the final Hobbit chapter? Leave a comment!

Avengers: Age of Ultron -- new trailer!
[For some reason the actual trailer didn't publish along with the post at first, but I've fixed it now.]
The new Age of Ultron trailer is here!
And I'm so overwhelmed and excited that the only things I can think to say is exclusively along the lines of "WOW" and "awesome-sauce." Everything looks fantastic, particularly Ultron in my opinion, he's promising to be the most epic, creepy baddie yet! Why, oh why is May 1st so far away??

The Mockingjay Lives -- New Trailer!
Here's the first full Mockingjay trailer! And looking every bit as good as Catching Fire did, I daresay. There is only one problem I can see, and that is that it's only half of the final chapter of this story. So while I'm glad they're spreading it out in order to include every detail possible, (and it looks like they've figured out how to form the plot to let it stand alone as well as possible) I'm also already dreading the year-long wait that will start on November 21st, right after this one is released.

Anticipating The Guardians of the Galaxy
Confession time: I have not, to the best of my memory, ever read a superhero comic. So I have no previous knowledge about this superhero sci-fi action/adventure comedy called Guardians of the Galaxy, but it's as highly anticipated for me as a Marvel movie can be. (Marvel movies can be anticipated to a stronger degree than regular movies, don't cha know?) I may not be a comic reader, but I am certainly a Marvel fan, and I knew I would see this movie the moment I knew it existed. But I don't devote entire posts to the subject of anticipating something lightly. Here are 7 reasons why my excited anticipation is so extreme:
1. The cast of characters.
The last time Marvel gave us a cast this unprecedented it was 2012, and it broke box-office records. Of course this is pretty different -- none of these characters have previous solo films. But they all look pretty fantastic in their own way.
Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket, the raccoon with serious anger issues. (In the normal way, not in the turn-green-and-grow-huge-muscles way.) He appears to be the character that everyone will either adore or despise. I plan on adoring. And Vin Deisel is voicing Groot. The "tree." He says everything by saying, "I am Groot." Should be hilarious.
Dave Bautista is Drax. Very large, green and red patterned skin, no shirts required. I tried to figure out what their Avenger equivalent would be, and I got stuck with Rocket and Groot, (combined, they make up the Hulk) but Drax's would have to be Thor. The crazy muscles help of course, but mostly because Drax's way of speaking is very Shakespearean, and the intricacies of language escape him.
Zoe Saldana is a mysterious alien again as Gamora, but this time green. And the pink hair ends is a good touch. (Everyone knows the pink goes good with green, right?) She also gets some very dramatic cheekbones, and I would be surprised if she is given every ounce of dry wit this movie has to offer. Obviously, she's the Black Widow of the group, but even if she wasn't a girl, she'd probably still get the title. She looks to be the best at hand to hand combat, and is a loner, emotionless, and scary. Oh yeah, and pretty.
And Chris Pratt is the hero that no one has heard of, Star-Lord. Or just Peter Quill. Of Earth. The movie hasn't even released yet, but he's still already the latest go-to guy for a charming and handsome leading action/adventure man. You could attribute it to all the weight he lost for this role, but are people really that shallow? Uhm... Well, Director James Gunn isn't; he was ready to cast him and give him a CG six-pack. Fortunately that wasn't necessary. Star-Lord is the Iron Man (charming and cocky) Captain America (sincere leader) and Hawkeye (epitome of cool) of this group all at once, and is as good-looking as whichever one you choose. But the best comparison really is that he's like a space Indiana Jones. So, basically, he's Han Solo.
And of course as a diligent Doctor Who fan, I must mention Karen Gillan as villainous lady Nebula. She shaved her head for this role, and looks awesome. I mean just absolutely fantastic. I have no idea what her character will be like, but do not doubt of its incredible-ness. And I fully expect an epic battle between her and Gamora.
Neither do I doubt the incredible-ness of Lee Pace (aka Thranduil of the Hobbit movies) as Ronan, (the ACCUSER!) who is the main villain of this film. Keep rocking those eyebrows, elf-king. I look forward to your evil monologues.
The rest of my points are all very closely connected. There is: 2. The trailer. Which features: 3. The soundtrack. Which helps give the movie: 4. The unique style.
Here's the original trailer which introduces the characters with some humor and gives out a taste of the snazzy action, all to the tune of Blue Swede's Hooked on a Feeling:
And the second trailer, which makes a valiant attempt to show us a serious and epic film, but can't help adding in a little comedy at the end.
And here's something fun -- a trailer for the original Star Wars trilogy, in the style of Guardians of the Galaxy! It makes me want to re-watch Star Wars almost as much as I want to see Guardians.
It's really the music that does it. Speaking of, below is the official GotG soundtrack cover.
And here is the track list:
As for the style, well, I've never seen a James Gunn film before, so I don't know exactly what his style is. I do know that he was hired so that he could lend his unique style and flair to the film. And if any of what we're seeing here is at all a clue... with the overall overwhelming boldness... the quirky characters... the dark, gritty tone... with a shiny, space finish...
And just look at that color palette! The dark earth-tones contrasted with bright neons. Every single one of these pictures is a work of art in itself. Just look at the textures, and the lighting and the contrast...
Okay I'm getting a little of-topic. Photos and trailers have been misleading before, but if they were any indication, we're in for a real treat with this movie, and making it in the style of James Gunn was the right decision.
6. I have one final point to make. It's very simple, and gives the film the most credibility, and can be summed up in one word: Marvel. I trust that they know what they're doing (because they really really do) and am staking a ton of hope on the success and awesomeness of their latest film. I usually think it is unwise to set expectations so high and risk disappointment, but this is much more fun right now.
7. Wait wait, I forgot one. And this is, like, all my points combined. Very important. Look:
Their tagline is "You're welcome." People. Their tagline is "YOU'RE WELCOME."
So, tell me: on a scale of 1 to "dying," how excited for this movie are you? What in particular is most exciting to you? (I'm assuming you are at least a little bit excited since you made it to the end of this post.) (Did you notice I skipped number 5? I did. Just now. And now I guess I'll leave it.) And isn't that the absolute best tagline ever?
1. The cast of characters.

New Trailers: The Maze Runner & The Giver
It started with The Hunger Games -- this explosively huge fad of basing films on dystopian YA novels, and now everyone's rushing to capitalize on it. Ender's Game and Divergent have already squeezed in efforts, but neither were/are nowhere near close to finding fame like that of Katniss Everdeen. These two films are next in line to give it a shot:
The Maze Runner: Set to release in September, Dylan O'Brien leads, and at least two already-awesome-in-my-opinion actors also star -- Will Poulter, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
The Giver: Set to release in August, Brenton Thwaits is the lead, with two huge names in acting -- Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep -- supporting, and also Katie Holmes and... Taylor Swift? I kid not.
Both are based on novels of the same name, The Maze Runner is the first part of a trilogy, and The Giver already has a reputation of being a great book, being twenty years old. I admit it; I've been interested in these films (and books) since I heard of their existence, and these trailers only add to that. What can I say? I'm a fan of the genre -- in on the craze.
I also like reading the novel first, so this is what I want to know: are they any good? Has anyone read them, and liked them? Or disliked them? I'd love to hear your opinions. Also, whether you've read the books or not, what do you think of these trailers? In on the craze, or not?

New Trailer: Desolation of Smaug
An exciting feeling of restless anticipation will surround me throughout the next week or so, now that I have seen the latest Hobbit trailer! Have a look for yourself:
Okay, I don't usually admit these types of things, but, I fangirled. Like with the first Hobbit movie, I can confidently predict that at least two things will happen in this movie perfectly: Martin Freeman's Bilbo (of course) and Benedict Cumberbatch's Smaug. He will undoubtedly be... well... stupendous! And the scenes they'll have together... oh my. I am also very excited for the potential that Luke Evan's Bard is showing. he's shaping up to be the Aragorn of these films!
What do you think, Hobbit fans, of the new trailer? What new characters are you most excited to see? Is it possible that December 13th could come too soon?

Ender's Game -- Trailer
I stumbled across this film while looking at the cast of Iron Man 3, specifically, Ben Kingsley on Rotten Tomatoes. I was intrigued by the inclusion of Asa Butterfield in the cast list, cast for the second time as the title character in a film that also stars Kingsley -- the other being the impressively acted lead in Hugo. As I scrolled through the rest of the cast, I became more and more impressed and intrigued -- Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, and Viola Davis make up the rest of the big names splashed through the cast.
The interest continues to grow. I discovered this science fiction adventure is being adapted from a novel written in the 80's. I researched the book, and (along with many more discoveries I won't mention for time's sake) decided the book could be worth a read. I gave me the impression of being the space version of The Hunger Games, but written before The Hunger Games of course.
That impression came from the fact that the story is basically one kid versus the world. Ender is the kid, molded influenced and manipulated since birth by mysterious people who hope he will one day save the earth and humanity from an alien race. Something he doesn't seem to have much of a choice about.
Though I was only mildly interested in the book, I ended up getting my hands on a copy pretty quickly, started reading a day later, and finished it two days after that. I don't want to go too much into what I thought about it, as it could easily be an entire blog post itself, and I don't want to give away any spoilers, but it was a very interesting read. And I enjoyed it, though (since I've already compared it to THG) not as much as I enjoyed The Hunger Games. After having read it though, I realize that's not a very fair comparison. So forget that. I'll just say I didn't love it, but I did read and finish it happily, and most importantly, it consumed my thoughts during the read and for several days after.
I suppose it goes without saying now that I'm very interested in seeing the film. The trailer conveniently released the day before I finished reading, so I watched it as soon as I was done, and from the little information I gathered from the one-and-a-half minutes I think that it will at least be as good as the book. I optimistically imagine it will be better, mostly because the story demands creative and amazing visual sequences... and they're looking good.
Have a look.
I knew as soon as I started reading the book that Asa Butterfield was the perfect choice for Ender, and the rest of the cast looks equally great. I'm very interested to see how it's adapted, and if I'm right as I hope I am, and the film is equal to or better than the book, I will happily consider myself a new fan of the franchise. It's scheduled to release on November 1st this year.

Upcoming Movie: Rise of the Guardians

| Seen this around? |

| Concept art for Marvels upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy. |
To clear up my confusion, I looked up Rise of the Guardians, and what I found was rather interesting. Here's the trailer:
This PG animated flick boasts the voice talents of several big names including Chris Pine as the apparent hero Jack Frost, Jude Law as the villain (the boogeyman? I don't know... his name is Pitch...) plus Hugh Jackman and Alec Baldwin as the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause respectively. Quite the cast. It also claims "the creators of 'How to Train Your Dragon,'" probably the best animated film DreamWorks ever managed, and what appears to be - in my opinion at least - an interesting and original premise, written in book form and for the film by William Joyce, who did the same thing for Meet the Robinsons.
![]() |
| How to Train Your Dragon surprised me; I didn't expect to like it so much. |
![]() |
| Meet the Robinsons. Quirky, silly... not too shabby. |
So I must say I'm intrigued. Mildly. There is, after all, always the possibility of it going way over the top, (or something similar) then falling flat on it face, (or something similar) and if that happens, I will likely not see it, but as it stands right now... I'll be keeping an interested eye on Rise of the Guardians.

| What do you think? The top-notch cast is what got me. |
