Tom Holland is Spider-Man

The second reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise has it's new lead: Tom Holland.

Tom is a nineteen-year-old British actor, known mainly for his role in The Impossible. Before getting into movies though, he played Billy Elliot on stage, and being trained in dancing as you would have to be to play Billy will certainly also be very helpful for swinging from buildings with the classic Spidey grace.

A couple years ago for April Fools I fake cast him as one of three potential Eustaces for the fake adaptation of The Silver Chair. I'm excited now to see for real what he can do, and if his franchise will be able to outlast the last two.

What do you think of the new Peter Parker and friendly neighborhood Spider-Man?

  1. I never heard of this actor before and I don't want to judge him as Peter till I see him...but I got so attached to Garfield as Peter...I don't know if my heart can take in another Spider-man. :(

    1. I get that -- it was too soon even with Garfield and he was SO much better than Maguire. Hopefully they'll do something really original with this one to help us not judge him against the last two so much. Making him actually teenaged is a good start.

  2. Not sure what I think of this casting. But considering I've not seen him in anything, I'll wait and see - and considering I'm pretty easy-going with movies, I'll likely like him just fine. :)

    1. True. I'm inclined to like him just because he's young, but I haven't actually seen him act either. But there's no reason why he would be a bad actor... I feel like the chances I'll dislike his Peter are slim -- it's more the movie surrounding him that I worry for. :)

    1. I know, it's hard to judge without actually seeing him act, but from his age, appearance, and resume, he sounds like an ideal choice so far. :)
