New Trailer: Desolation of Smaug

An exciting feeling of restless anticipation will surround me throughout the next week or so, now that I have seen the latest Hobbit trailer! Have a look for yourself:

Okay, I don't usually admit these types of things, but, I fangirled. Like with the first Hobbit movie, I can confidently predict that at least two things will happen in this movie perfectly: Martin Freeman's Bilbo (of course) and Benedict Cumberbatch's Smaug. He will undoubtedly be... well... stupendous! And the scenes they'll have together... oh my. I am also very excited for the potential that Luke Evan's Bard is showing. he's shaping up to be the Aragorn of these films!

What do you think, Hobbit fans, of the new trailer? What new characters are you most excited to see? Is it possible that December 13th could come too soon?

  1. Wow. If all dragons had voices that sexy, maybe we wouldn't have killed them all off!

    1. Haha, good one! Sadly I don't think it'll help this one much anyway... but at least he'll sound awesome while it lasts! ;)

  3. The trailer looks epic! I am glad that they showed some more action, although I am not so sure about the romantic subplot between Legolas and whatshername.

    1. It does. Yeah and the action looks cool! I agree, there's no need to add random romance... though it'll probably not go anywhere, it still might be annoying if it takes up too much time. Oo, I wonder if she'll be killed off later to explain her not being in LotR... poor Legolas. :P

    2. I expect her to get killed off since she's an OC, and then Legolas can look sad and lonely.

  4. I'm still not sure if the decision to split the book into 3 parts will ultimately pay off but I loved the last film and this one looks extremely promising so far! I'm very much looking forward to seeing Lee Pace in this and for those Benedict Cumberbatch-Martin Freeman scenes of course! I'm intrigued about Evangeline Lily's Tauriel as well. I honestly don't mind an added-in female character just as long as she's well-written and likeable. Some of the Tolkien fans are speculating that she might be the Captain of the Guard from the book. It's been a couple of years since I last read The Hobbit but it was never mentioned whether that character was a male or a female apparently.

    1. Me either, I feel like two would have been plenty, but I won't complain about there being three, because, well, more Middle-Earth! Yes, yes, and yes, very excited for them too, and Bard! I don't think I'll mind Tauriel either, I like Evangeline Lily, and as long as they don't go overboard with her-and-Legolas-romantic-stuff, I think she'll be a very cool character. That's an interesting theory! And if it's true, then she won't even be an added character, she'll just be expanded.
